Vocal Accompanying
Drawn by the beauty of exquisite poetry with a complementary musical setting, Mary Rose loves collaborating on Lieder, chansons, and American art songs. She has performed scores of concerts with vocalists of all ranges in all settings, from concert halls at Indiana University and Northwestern University to the Italian Style Expo on Navy Pier and the International College of Surgeons at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Chicago. Last spring, Mary Rose appeared with soprano Hannah Dixon McConnell for lecture-performances on operatic and song literature for Ravinia's Reach*Teach*Play program.
Mary Rose has had the privilege to coach with some of the finest singers and pedagogues of this generation, notably: Virginia Zeani, Mary Ann Hart, Marietta Simpson, Patricia Wise, Karen Brunssen, Theresa Brancaccio, and Allan Bennett, as well as with vocal coach pianist Roger Vignoles. Norell has enjoyed playing with vocalists in her career as a pianist, propelled by her own love of singing. She studied voice at IU for over two years, which has informed her artistry as not only a vocal accompanist, but also as a solo pianist. |
